Wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista is reuniting with his Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve for Legendary’s upcoming film adaptation of Dune, which already features the likes of other high-profile talents like Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Bautista, who is perhaps best known for his role as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, will play “Beast” Rabban, who is described as the sadistic nephew of a baron who oversees the desert planet known as Arrakis.
Meanwhile, Chalamet is set to play the starring role of Paul Atreides, the son of a noble family trying to avenge his father’s death while also trying to save a spice planet that he is entrusted to protect with his life, while Ferguson is playing his mother, Lady Jessica.
Villeneuve is directing the long-in-the-works project, which has been in development at Legendary since 2008, from a screenplay written by Oscar-winner Eric Roth, based on Frank Hebert’s best-selling 1965 sci-fi novel.
In addition to directing, Villeneuve will also serve as a producer on the film alongside Mary Parent and Cale Boyter, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Thomas Tull, and Kim Herbert executive producing.
A release date for the film has not yet been announced, though production is expected to get underway later this year.

The first ‘High Life’ trailer finds Robert Pattinson on a mind-boggling space expedition
A24 has released the first trailer for High Life, the eagerly awaited English-language debut from French filmmaker Claire Denis, which debuted to rave reviews from critics following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September.
The film follows Monte (Robert Pattison), the only crew member awake on a ship sent deep into outer space, as he rigorously tends to the ship to keep everyone onboard alive, including his infant daughter. In addition to Pattinson, the space thriller features an all-star cast that includes the likes of Juliette Binoche, Mia Goth, André Benjamin, Lars Eidinger, Agata Buzek, Ewan Mitchell, Claire Tran, and Gloria Obianyo.
Denis wrote the script for High Life along with Jean-Pol Fargeau and Geoff Cox. Oliver Dungey, Laurence Clerc, Olivier Thery-Lapiney, Andrew Lauren, and DJ Gugenheim are producers.
High Life will open in theaters on April 12.
