Two fans were killed in two separate falls during a Phish concert.
Three individuals fell from the San Francisco Chase Center’s upper levels, where the concert was taking place.
A spokesperson for San Francisco police said that police were alerted about a person in dire need of medical help at 9 p.m., Saturday. They arrived to find a man with injuries from a fall.
“Medics arrived and immediately provided medical treatment, but despite the efforts of the emergency responders the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased,” The spokesperson stated.
According to police, there is no evidence of foul play, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was involved in the ongoing investigation.
Officials have not released the man’s name.
Reddit reports that witnesses claim the first person to fall from the upper level fell on his head, causing enough force to fracture the seat.
These accounts also described how the staff tried to quickly clean up the victim’s blood during the police questioning.
Reddit posters also stated that the man landed just two rows behind him. “It’s so lucky that nobody besides him was hurt,” The post was read.
“The sound and scene were incredible and horrifying.”
Monday’s statement was made by a spokesperson for Chase Center:
“We are working with the local authorities to determine exactly what happened, and will defer questions about the incident to the San Francisco Police Department.”
