A 100-Foot-Fall Causes Head Injury in a 62 Year-Old Hiker


According to officials, a woman was hiking with her friends near Portland, Oregon when she suffered a head injury from a fall of 100 feet.

On Friday afternoon, firefighters and deputies responded in kind to a 911 call about a falling person. Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.

On the way, they were told Jessica Warejoncas, aged 62, had suffered serious injuries and that CPR was being performed by passers-by.

Upon the responders’ arrival, Warejoncas was pronounced dead. Multnomah County Search & Rescue helped the medical examiner’s office recover the woman’s body and notified next of kin, according to the release.

According to the release, Warejoncas was hiking Multnomah Falls-Larch Mountain Trail and was located approximately 1.3 miles from trailhead.

The release states that the Trauma Intervention Program Northwest was contacted to provide emotional support and mental health resources to those impacted by the Warejoncas’ death.

Officials said that Warejoncas’ family requested privacy during this difficult time.
