“As we’re doing the scene, Bill starts to sort of hurl insults, and I won’t get into the specifics, but it kept going on and on,” Liu recalled. “I was, like, ‘Wow, he seems like he’s looking straight at me.’I couldn’t believe that [the comments] could be towards me, because what do I have to do with anything majorly important at that time?”

Liu went on: “I literally do the look around my shoulder thing, like, who is he talking to behind me? I say, ‘I’m so sorry. Are you talking to me?’ And clearly, he was, because then it started to become a one-on-one communication. Some of the language was inexcusable and unacceptable, and I was not going to just sit there and take it. So, yes, I stood up for myself, and I don’t regret it. Because no matter how low on the totem pole you may be or wherever you came from, there’s no need to condescend or to put other people down. And I would not stand down, and nor should I have.”

Bill Murray Settlement of a Lawsuit for Sexual Misconduct

Murray came under another thick blanket of scrutiny earlier this year after his alleged misconduct halted a film’s production. New reports allege that Murray was the one who stopped production of a film because of his misconduct. Murray settled a second lawsuit for $100,000. The plaintiff was an unidentified woman who helped to create the set. Being Mortal, Aziz Ansari’s upcoming directorial debut, has accused Murray of making unwanted sexual advances.

According to the woman, Murray was on set with her when he straddled and kissed her while she was still in her masks. The staffer called Murray’s actions “entirely sexual,”Insisted she was “horrified.”Murray was both sued by the plaintiff and another witness. Being Mortal to pause production indefinitely.

Murray has however been successful since. The incident was attributed to a “difference in opinion” but didn’t go into detail. “I did something I thought was funny and it wasn’t taken that way,”In an interview with CNBC, he stated these words. “The movie studio wanted to do the right thing so they wanted to check it all out, investigate it and so they stopped the production.”

Geena Davis Writes About Murray In Her Memoir

Retroactively, the latest allegations against Murray are the oldest. Geena Davis, his old co-star in the film, is his inspiration. Recently, the Academy Award-winning actress published a memoir called The Death of Politeness. She talks in the book about Murray’s behavior on the set for the 1990 film. Quick Change. Davis says that Murray tried several times to use a masseuse he called while Murray was trying to land a film role. “The Thumper”Despite her multiple refusals, I remained loyal to her.

She also noticed that Murray was prone to shout at her and other crew members with belligerent anger, seemingly for no apparent reason. “That was bad,”Davis responded. “The way he behaved at the first meeting … I should have walked out of that or profoundly defended myself, in which case I wouldn’t have got the part. I could have avoided that treatment if I’d known how to react or what to do during the audition. But, you know, I was so non-confrontational that I just didn’t.”

A 1990 Interview Retires With New Attention

Not to mention, there’s An uncomfortable interview with Arsenio Hal in 1990 in which Murray can be seen trying to pull the strap down on Davis’ dress. Murray also touches her, but he does not restrain her. She leans in the other direction. Davis said that Murray was one of her first acts while she auditioned for her role. Rapid ChangeLet her pull her shirt up and begin to tickle her stomach.

If you were to see the interview back then, the average viewer would likely think—or hope—that it was all just jokes between friends. But, if you look back at it with fresh eyes, it all just feels icky.

It’s clear that Murray has gotten a pass up until this point because so much of his behavior can be brushed off as jokes. We don’t know what the future holds. Maybe that’s all he’s intended this entire time, but if your jokes involve confronting unsuspecting women with sexual advances, then maybe it’s time to get a new schtick.
