Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour had a difficult season, but the midfielder showed magic when representing Scotland.
After their World Cup qualifier against Ukraine had been postponed because of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Scotland met Poland in a friendly. This was after they were granted an automatic waiver in their clash against Russia. Scotland thought they had done enough, as Kieran Tierney’s goal proved decisive. But a late penalty saw them share the spoils.
It was a brilliant performance by Scotland who now aim to qualify for the World Cup, for the first time since 1998. For that, they had Gilmour as their hero. “sensational”Moment that prevented Poland from winning earlier in the match.
Fans noticed that Gilmour was not seated in midfield and saw a strong run from him as Poland struck Scotland. A Chelsea loanee was there at the right time to help the team score, clearing a fantastic effort off the line. His clearance kept Poland at bay at one end. Then, Tierney broke forward and helped Tierney to put Scotland in front. It was a remarkable display of skill at both ends of field. Although Gilmour has been a Norwich Premier League player for 18 games this season, it appears that his efforts won’t be enough.
