American Idol Family Honors Willie Spence’s Demise


American IdolStars pay tribute to the late contestant Willie Spence.

After the death of the season 19 runnerup on Oct. 11, the singing contest and several of its alums used social media to pay tribute.

Spence’s passing was mourned by the show’s official Instagram, who shared a poignant message. Video from his audition, where he performed a rendition of Rihanna‘s “Diamonds”High praise was received from judges Lionel Richie, Katy PerryAnd Luke Bryan

“We are devastated about the passing of our beloved American Idol family member, Willie Spence,”The Oct. 12 post was read. “He was a true talent who lit up every room he entered and will be deeply missed. We send our condolences to his loved ones.”

Perry was among the grieving Spence’s passing. American Idol‘s post. “I love you Willie… purest soul,”She wrote. “Sing with the angels my darling.”

Host Re-sharing the audition footage in his Instagram Stories Ryan SeacrestHe looked back on his memories of Spence. “Everybody on and off set loved him,”He remembered. “@williespenceofficial you’ll be deeply missed.”

Bryan did the exact same. “Willie really did light up every room he walked into,”The country singer wrote a separate post. “He could change the mood instantly when he started singing. He will truly be missed.”
