After Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning hat-trick against Tottenham, Antonio Conte called him one of the best players ever to have played for Manchester United.

Ronaldo, 37 years old, defied age to lead the Red Devils to victory in a tough affair at Old Trafford.

The hat trick was the 49th goal of his club career. It brought the Portuguese striker up to 12 goals in 24 Premier League games.

He also has 807 goals for country and club, more than any other player who has ever graced the pitch.

Conte, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, insists that he is worthy of his place on football’s Mount Rushmore.

“It was an amazing performance from Cristiano, but I know him very well and it’s not a surprise for me,”The Spurs boss spoke after the whistle blew at full-time.

“We’re talking about a player that with Messi they are the best players in the world right now, with Maradona and Pele [historically] in my opinion.

“This is a player who is decisive, and when the team needs him, he’s always there.”

Continuing his lavish praise for Ronaldo, Conte pointed out his astonishing return of six goals in five games in this season’s Champions League group stage.
