Arizona Hiker Falls to his Death while taking a photo


According to reports, an Arizona hiker died after falling 70000 feet while trying to take a photograph. CNN. The accident occurred at Lost Dutchmen State Park, about 40 miles away from Phoenix.

Richard Jacobson, 21 years old, was on Flat Iron Trail trying to take photos and fell. His friend was also hiking with him.

According to the sheriff, Jacobson was found dead after the initial 911 call at 12.45 a.m.

Paul Blanco, Richard Jacob’s friend, said that the 21-year old was involved in mission work in Utah as well as Washington.

“The only thing I can remember is kind of like my ears starting to ring,”Blanco shared his thoughts about Richard’s passing.

“Denial. Just like not being able to believe it.”

This is just one of many instances where people die while taking pictures while hiking.

An Australian woman died after trying to take selfies at Grampians National Park in 2020. In 2017,  a 25-year-old hiker in Washington died while taking selfies with his girlfriend. 

CNN reports that more than 250 people have died while trying to take selfies worldwide between 2011-2017.
