Near transfer miss

Patrice Evra, a Premier League legend, suggested that Arsenal were lucky not to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo in January’s transfer window.

Although the Gunners were widely reported as having pushed for the signing in January of the Brazilian, they couldn’t secure the deal because Mikel Arteta had an unsuccessful transfer window and Edu, the sporting directors, didn’t agree to it. Evra was harshly critical of Arthur while he was a pundit on Italian TV during the Champions League match between Villarreal & Juventus.

The ex-Juve player slammed the Brazilian’s performance – and his criticism seems to suggest the Gunners got away with a near-miss in the January window.
