Olly Alexander appeared unrecognizable when he arrived at Royal Festival Hall, London, for the BAFTAs on Sunday night
Olly Alexander made sure that all eyes were on his arrival at the Royal Festival Hall, London, for Sunday’s BAFTAs.
31-year old It’s A Sin actor wore a bold new look on the red carpet. He had bleached his eyebrows and had shaved his hair.
Olly looked stunning in a dramatic cape and frill neckline that swung out. The look was paired with large platform heels.
He showed a hint of his stomach while wearing the statement look and was in his element when he worked with the cameras.
Singer Olly was being considered as one of the front-runners for Doctor Who. However, it was revealed that Jodie Whittaker would be replaced by Ncuti Gatwa, a Sex Education star.
Olly, a musician, had previously worked with Russell T Davies in the Channel 4 hit It’s A Sin. Fans tipped him to be next time Lord.
Ncuti said to the PA news agency that he couldn’t. “finally breathe”After months of secret casting, he was officially announced as the new Doctor.
On the red carpet for the TV Baftas, the actor said: “I feel really happy that I can now talk about it because I got cast in February and I have been keeping it a secret since then. So it is nice to finally breathe.
“However, it is also extremely nervous. It is a very iconic role, and an incredibly famous show. It is a role I hope to do justice to. I am following in some very, very big footsteps so I am just hoping that I fill them up.”
He spoke out about Doctor Who’s approach to diversity. “He is a Time Lord. He is literally an alien – ‘they’ are an alien. And so they can regenerate into anything and anyone.
“For me, the show is the best form of escapism. It is possible to forget about your problems and travel to space to battle aliens. I believe that anyone can be in these shoes.
“The Doctor is not from anywhere. They don’t fit in anywhere and I think for marginalised people they have been a real beacon of feeling seen in a way. They are someone that can help people escape, which I love.”
When asked what he would bring to the job, he replied: “I don’t know… fabulousness!”
