Barcelona hopes for sensational return with Lionel Messi as the centre of tug-of war

While Lionel Messi may not have been at his best for Paris Saint-Germain this season, there are rumors that his family is still not settled in Paris. This could open the door to a Barcelona Return

Lionel Messi finds himself in the middle of a tug of warfare over his future. His family is fighting over his club career.

Although the Argentine star completed a high-profile transfer to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona, things did not go according to plan.

Messi has only once scored in Ligue 1 so far this campaign, and has not been able to duplicate his Barca success in Paris.

However, fresh reports indicate that things are not as easy for the 34-year old at the moment. His family has said they have not settled down in Paris.

It is claimed that Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo is not enjoying life in France and has even told her husband that she would prefer to return to Barcelona.

Let us know what you think! Is Messi making a mistake joining PSG this summer? We want to hear your thoughts.

It was reported by El Nacional that Messi’s children have not adapted to life in Paris but his wife Antonela is said to be particularly keen for an exit from the French capital.

They don’t like the rain and wind that Paris brings, while also having trouble adapting to French instead of their native Spanish.

In the report, Antonela states that she wishes she could return home to Castelldefels, Catalonia. This is where her family was happy.

According to her, she is keen to go back to the Catalan capital to shop and to reconnect with old friends.

Not only is Messi’s wife said to be pressuring him to return to Barcelona but the Blaugrana’s new boss Xavi Hernandez and new signing Dani Alves – both of whom were former teammates of the superstar – are also trying to persuade him to complete a sensational return.

However, Messi’s father and agent Jorge is said to have ruled out such a possible.

Jorge Messi felt betrayed and manipulated by Barcelona and Joan Laporta, the president of the club. They stopped contract renewal talks with the club in the summer to inform Messi that he couldn’t stay.

It is said that Jorge does not trust Laporta’s reasoning that the club were unable to register Messi, and has pointed to subsequent player registrations and multiple signings in January.

Last month, Luis Suarez – another former Barca star and close friend of Messi – admitted that the Argentine was ‘suffering’In the French capital.

Suarez explained: “We talk every day, we always try to avoid expectations because we are players and we know how we have to act in those moments, we talk about the games, about the family.

“He explained to me that he feels a lot worse when he’s playing in the snow and cold.

“You have to get used to what the cold weather there is like, sure.”

Messi’s contract at the Parc des Princes runs through until the summer of 2023 and there appears to be deep uncertainty over where his club future lies beyond that date.
