Black-ish Primetime Special Features Screen Testing From Pilot


The Johnson family is leaving in style.

In honor of the series finale of black-ish, the show is being fêted with an ABC primetime special, Celebration of black-ish, which will air directly after the show’s series finale on April 19.

This special takes you back to the beginning. It features screen tests for the 2014 pilot episode. News clip.

There’s Miles Brown Marsai MartinBoth have grown up together and passed their on-screen tests together. Tracee Ellis Ross, who has earned five Emmy nominations for the show, is also seen getting in some early reps as matriarch Bow. 

Interviews with Anderson, Ross Martin, Brown, Scribner and Brown will be part of the special. Yara Shahidi, Laurence Fishburne, Jenifer L. Lewis and Deon Cole.

“When I read the script, I knew it was something special,”In the special, Ellis Ross said. “It was a point of view that I had not seen done on television in that way.”
