The uncertainty over Erling Haaland’s fate continues. Borussia Dortmund’s chief confirmed that they will talk to the Norwegian about transfer talks ‘in the coming weeks’.

Haaland is expected to be available for £70m next summer due to a clause in his current Dortmund contract, one that the German side are now massively regretting.

After a meeting between Joan Laporta, Barca president, and the agent for strikers, the 21-year old has been closely linked to Europe’s elite. However it seems that Barcelona are now the surprise front-runners to secure Haaland.

Dortmund’s chief confirmed that talks will be held with Haaland in order to sort out his future.

Haaland is an exceptional talent. Both he and Kylian Mbappe will be the next heirs of the throne’s that were occupied for more than a decade by Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe (and Haaland) have been strongly linked to a move from Spain, just as Messi and Ronaldo experienced their best years as rivals at Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Madrid was believed to have the ability to sign both stars and blow the league, but a recent meeting with Mino Raiola, Lapota, and Barcelona has made Barcelona the frontrunners for Haaland.

Ahead of all the news, Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s former star and director, has revealed: “We’ll sit down with Haaland in the next few weeks and discuss the situation. It would be good if a decision doesn’t drag on forever.

“He’s in very good hands at BVB and why we as a club can continue to be a very good option for him.”

The recent links to Barcelona came as it was revealed that while Haaland was on holiday in Marbella, he was asked about his future and the Norwegian reportedly confirmed: “I will play in Spain.”

Haaland’s agent has a great relationship with Laporta, and according to Deportes Cuatro, the striker does not wish to sign for Madrid, and instead could head to Barcelona to establish a new look El Clasico for years to come.

That of course also relies on Mbappe, who was subject to a world record big from Madrid in the summer, although it was sensationally turned down by Paris Saint Germain despite the Frenchman free to speak with foreign clubs this January about a free move.

La Liga has been lacking since Messi and Sergio Ramos became the latest stars to leave Spain this summer, but it is thought that Mbappe and Haaland could revolutionise the league once more.

But Barcelona still need to raise enough money to fulfil Haaland’s incredible wage demands, that could total £25m-a-year, meaning that they will have to offload some of their current stars.
