Boy, 1, orders £1,500 of furniture in shopping spree using parent’s mobile phone

Madhu Kumar, from New Jersey, in the US, has told how her son Ayaansh used her phone to buy furniture worth almost £1,500 from Walmart and only found out when the goods arrived

Parents have told how their one-year-old toddler went on a shopping spree after picking up a phone and spending almost £1,500 to refurbish the family home.

Madhu, a New Jersey resident, stated that she was shocked when goods suddenly arrived at her house. So she asked her husband or her older children if they knew.

Walmart received large boxes one after the other. Reports indicate that little Ayaansh was responsible for these purchases.

Ayaansh bought flower stands and chairs, and even ordered more than one.

He sunk $2,000 (£1,483) on the new goods for the family using his mum’s phone.

“The first person came with the box and he put it next to the door. The second person came, then first step, then second step then third, it was a queue,” Madhu Kumar said, reports News12.

Madhu had looked at furniture options and had placed a virtual cart.

Ayaansh (22 months old), who enjoys playing with the phone, clicked the button to confirm payment.

“He just went to the cart and whatever was there, boom, he just clicked and all payments just went through,”Pramod Kumar, father.

So far the family think that about 75% of the goods have now been delivered but fortunately Walmart have said that they will refund any purchases that they don’t want.

His mother said: “He likes phones because everybody is in virtual. They are busy with their phones, his siblings always with their phones and I don’t know, I think he needs a phone.”

She was also not angry with the youngster and admitted that they need to beef up the security on their phones with passwords so that he can’t do it again.

“He’s so little, he’s so cute, we were laughing that he ordered all this stuff,” Madhu told NBCNewYork.

And dad Pramod added: “Moving forward, we will put tough passcodes or face recognition so when he picks up the phone he finds it in locked condition.”
