Police in Houston say that an 8-year-old boy died after his 10-year brother accidentally shot and killed the boy with a shotgun at their Houston, Texas house Monday. New York Post.
According to the Post, a 13-year old sibling was unarmed when he called police. Police arrived on the scene around three o’clock in the afternoon.
According to police, the victim was found by cops inside the apartment. The victim was 8 years old and was struck while his brother, aged 10, was shooting a gun. KPRC.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that victim was dead upon arrival.
According to KPRC, investigators believe that all three siblings were at home at the time of shooting. They also believe that the minors weren’t enrolled in school due to the family’s recent move to Houston.
Investigators are trying to determine who owns the shotgun.
“We’ve talked in the past about the importance of safe storage, securing weapons, responsible gun ownership,”Gonzalez spoke Monday at a press conference. “This appears to be a tragic situation of what could happen when that doesn’t occur. Our condolences out to the family. They’re extremely devastated by what has occurred here this afternoon.”
The identities of the victims and the alleged shooter, who were both minors, have not been made public.
