Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is puzzled by Eden Hazard’s injuries

Chelsea will manage a difficult January schedule without Ben Chillwell. Ben Chillwell is still out for the remainder.

According to reports, every effort will now be made in order to replace the victim.

Even though it seems the club has narrowed in on Everton’s Lucas Digne but recent speculation suggested that the Toffees weren’t keen to part with the ex-Barcelona defender, as they had endured a poor season.

Digne and Rafael Benitez fell out, so it appeared that all hope was lost.

Recent comments by the Spaniard have renewed hope for a deal but Thomas Tuchel doesn’t want to put all his eggs in one basket. He has identified a backup target in Barcelona’s Sergino Dest.

These are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Digne is looking for out

It is counter-productive to keep a player who doesn’t want to leave the club. Rafael Benitez confirmed that Digne wants to leave Goodison Park.

The 28-year-old has not yet been offered a contract, but the ex-head of Liverpool did announce in his pre FA Cup press conference Digne is ‘thinking about resigning’

“I’ve had a couple of conversations with him, he told me what he thought,” Benitez said.

“So what do you expect the manager to do when he’s thinking about leaving?

“Fans and ex-players will be reminded once again that Peter Reid would say what he thinks if a player wants to leave the team but isn’t happy with his manager. Simple.”

Dest is an alternative

Sergino Dest is a potential alternative to Chelsea, given Barcelona’s financial woes and the need to sell or loan players in order for them register new signings.

The following is an extract from the Daily TelegraphBarcelona will let Dest go in a fair deal.

Chelsea are looking for a replacement for Chillwell on a short-term basis and the La Liga side are openly interested in signing the 21-year old talented player on a contract until the end.

Law continues to tweet that signing a full-back on a permanent contract would mean they enter the summer with five left backs, which makes no sense.

Blues will be active

It’s refreshing to hear a manager talk publicly about their desire to strengthen the team in the winter transfer windows. Tuchel has updated fans on what the team’s plans for the next few weeks.

Reece James’ injury may force the club to look elsewhere for a left back.

A host of European players are out of contract this summer. Chelsea could use the opportunity to pay a portion of the team’s money to help a player leave for free in six month.

“We are discussing and are in talks with the staff, board and scouting,”Tuchel spoke before Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Chesterfield, fifth-tier.

“We are checking the possibilities which we would always do.

“After long-term injuries, our focus now shifts to the market. Although we aren’t under the greatest pressure, things must make sense.
