This week, a chicken dinner might be out of reach after health officials issued an urgent warning to consumers not to eat the popular product. Uncooked chicken was found in a UK chicken breast product that has been recalled. The recall was also shared by The UK’s Food Standards Agency(the regional government agency that is comparable to USDA or FDA), was issued Oct. 20 when Iceland recalled Iceland Ready Cooked Diced Chicken Breast.
The recall appears to be small in scope as it only covers one product. Iceland Ready Cooked Diced Chicken breast was recalled. It was available in an 800-gram package. The Best Before date on the recalled chicken product is “17 June 2023.”This recall does not affect any of the company’s chicken products. After it was discovered that the Iceland Ready Cooked Diced Chicken breast may contain uncooked, raw chicken, it was recalled. According to the Centers for Disease Control and PreventionConsuming undercooked chicken can cause foodborne illness or food poisoning. Raw chicken can often be contaminated by Campylobacter bacteria as well as Salmonella or Clostridium perfringens bacteria. Chicken should be cooked to a safe internal temperature of 165°F, and raw chicken and its juices should be kept away from ready-to-eat foods, like salads or food that is already cooked. According to the CDC, chicken should be cooked to a safe internal temperature of 165°F. “if cooking a microwaveable meal that includes frozen raw chicken, handle it as you would fresh raw chicken. Follow cooking directions carefully to prevent food poisoning.”
The UK’s health officials have warned consumers to avoid the recalled Iceland Ready Cooked Diced chicken Breast because of the potential health risks. For a full refund, return the product to the seller.
