Multiple-weight undisputed champion Claressa Shields is one of the most decorated fighters in history, and has had an ongoing feud with YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul

Claressa Shields claimed that the emails showing her representatives asking her to fight for Jake Paul’s undercard were misinterpreted.
It was announced earlier in the month through a report in USA Today Sports+Representatives of Shields tried to get her on the Mike Tyson Jr. undercard in November 2020.
In the report, Mark Taffet, her manager, was mentioned as having emailed her to try and get her a spot on Triller’s April 17 pay per view event. This event was headlined by Paul’s fight with Ben Askren.
Dmitry Salita and he corresponded for months with Nakisa Bidarian, Paul’s manager and producer on Triller’s Tyson vs Jones, but nothing came of it.
Shields claims that she would not have sought that route if a deal was made after the talks.
She said Mirror FightingAt a virtual conference to defend her middleweight title against Ema Kolzin on February 5, she revealed that her manager had sent emails to her. They make many attempts at getting her favourable deals.
“First of all, this isn’t about Jake Paul, this is about Claressa Shields and Ema Kozin,”She elaborated.
“As it was said, I don’t email about this stuff – I have a manager and I have a promoter, their job is to make opportunities for me.
“It is important to remember that I was supposed be on a Roy Jones or Mike Tyson undercard and not under Jake Paul.
“I don’t know what the emails said, and I really don’t care, but we’re not going to talk about that and give him the shine of this press conference.”
Shields often said that Paul is a. “clown show”She was referring to YouTubers boxing in her January 2020 fight against AnEsonGib. “cute”.
She says she is tired of him being in discussions about elite fighters. Top boxers have been discussing the social-media star.
Paul, a rookie at 5-0 in professional ranks, has only won one white collar boxing victory before. Shields wants to keep her conversations around higher-level competitors.

“This is about me, this is about Ema, this is about world titles, this is about elite boxers,” Shields continued. “I’m just going to leave that there.
“Dmitry [her promoter, who was on the call]It doesn’t take much to talk about it. Managers do their jobs, promoters do there job, and fighters train to be ready for their fights.”
The correspondences between Shields’ team and Bidarian continued from before the November 28 fight date between Tyson and Jones through to the build-up for Paul’s August bout with Tyron Woodley.
It is unknown if Taffet was aware in March that the plan was for Paul vs Askren to headline on April 17, as at the time Triller had just won the purse bids for Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr’s unified lightweight title fight.
They were also very publicly angling to put together a trilogy bout between Tyson and Evander Holyfield, eventually announcing a bout between Holyfield and Kevin McBride which never materialised.
