Conor Benn showed fans how boxing certainly runs in his family’s genes as Nigel’s son smashed his way past Chris Algieri.
The 25-year-old took another step forward towards a world title shot with an impressive victory in Liverpool.
The Destroyer has enjoyed a terrific 12 months in the ring, beating experienced opponents in the form of Sebastian Formella, Samuel Vargas and Adrian Granados.
And now Algieri has been left in tatters after taking on Benn, going down in round four after a massive right hand from the Londoner.
Boxing fans were quick to point out Conor’s quality that reminded them of dad Nigel’s class back in the day.
One wrote on Twitter after the brutal knockout: “Conor Benn is the second coming of Nigel. What an exciting fighter!!”
Another put: “Conor Benn has the same ruthless power as his dad. That was a class finish.”
“Conor Benn doing his dad proud with a shot like that, goodness gracious,” a third said, reflecting on the fight.
Benn made his ambitions clear after the triumph.
