One high-profile fan noticed Craig David at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee earlier in the year. The singer had performed at the queen’s celebrations in 2022 prior to her death and just revealed that he had a brief encounter with the royal family. In a new interview. Jonathan Ross ShowHe said that Prince George was attracted to his jacket made of sequins.
David wore a blue and sequined track coat with black and white stripes trim to the Platinum Jubilee. During his conversation with Ross last week, he said that the outfit got praise from none other than Prince George – heir to the throne. He learned about it from Prince of Wales. “Prince William walks over, he comes over, says, ‘My son George was going crazy for the blue sequined outfit that you were wearing.'”
David confessed that he was star struck when Prince William approached him and learned that Prince George had been closely watching his performance. He shared the experience with his mother, and said it was even more special.
“My mum was there, I said, ‘Lovely to meet you, love that George loved the outfit,'”David said. “That moment for me, as a son [introducing my mother to William], was probably the most incredible moment for me. Then Kate comes over. Very memorable moment.”
In July, Prince George turned nine-years-old. This was months after the Platinum Jubilee’s end. It marked the queen’s 70th year on the throne – the longest reign of any monarch in recorded British history. The celebrations began on Feb. 6 – the anniversary of the queen’s accession – and was celebrated throughout the year, with an extra bank holiday added in the U.K. in June.
Unfortunately, the queen died on September 8, 2022 just as the celebrations across the globe were ending. Her eldest child, King Charles III, succeeded her to the throne. His eldest son Prince William was elected as his heir. Prince George is Prince William, the eldest child of Prince William. He is therefore currently considered to be next in line for succession. According to the current laws of succession, Prince George’s siblings Prince Charlotte and Prince Louis will be following him until George has children. Craig David is able to confidently claim that Buckingham Palace is his fan.
