Dad feeds family of four with £5 ‘tasty’ sausage casserole cooked in one pot


A chef has shared a recipe for sausage casserole that can fill four hungry bellies on a budget of just £5 and it’s won him lots of fans.

In a TikTok video, Mitch @mealsbymitch shows his Aldi shopping receipt as proof that the ingredients cost £4.91 including eight pork sausages, two “bake at home”Baguettes, onion, potato, carrots and tomato puree. Also, chicken stock, fresh Parsley, butter beans, mustard, and chicken stock.

He says the only bits he didn’t include were the salt and pepper and flour – which he reckoned most people have in their cupboards.

The chef who has His own recipe book was publishedStart by browning the sausages in large skillet. Then, set them aside to cool.

Then, Mitch fries a sliced onion in the same skillet, before adding his chopped potatoes and carrots to thicken it.

He adds chicken broth to the pan. After the ingredients have simmered, he adds some black pepper and a teaspoon of mustard.

Mitch puts the “bake at home”Bake the bread and then add the sausages and butterbeans to it.

The chef finishes the dish with fresh parsley, and then serves the stew with warm baguettes.

Since Tuesday, January 18, he uploaded his video, it has been viewed more than 1,000,000 times.

One user commented: “I make a similar one with baked beans easy warming food.”

A second viewer added: “This looks well nice and so easy, really good for big families!”

Another person shared their recipe. “Sausages, Asda sausage casserole mix (in a packet), mashed potatoes, peas, and carrots. Perfect cheap meal. Kids love it.”
