Declan Donnelly looks absolutely adorable in a throwback video from his days at Byker Grove.

Saturday Night Takeaway star began his career at 12 years old as a child actor.

In a nostalgic look back for Channel 5’s Ant & Dec’s 30 Greatest Moments, the now 46-year-old appeared as a fresh-faced youngster in the hit Nineties kids show.

Fans who have followed Dec from the beginning will know it’s where he met best pal and longstanding presenting partner Ant McPartlin.

The Geordie duo starred together as PJ and Duncan in the drama set in a Newcastle youth group.

The show tackled topics such as teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, and sexuality. It was groundbreaking at the time.

Who can forget PJ’s accidently paintedball blinding at Amanda Bewick and Debbie Dobson?

It just happened that the lothario took his goggles off at the exact time Duncan was yelling the now-famous line. “He cannae see, man!”

The boys later launched a mic-wrecking music career and were known by their Byker Grove character names, PJ & Duncan.

Their biggest hit was 1994’s Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble, which belatedly topped the charts in 2013 after they performed it on Saturday Night Takeaway.

The pair had 14 Top 40 singles before they were dropped by their record label, in 1997.

They were really at their best when they presented, which was after being rebranded. ‘Ant and Dec’They became some of the most successful TV stars in the UK.

The duo teamed up in 1998 with Cat Deeley and presented SM:TV. This launched their television careers and won them a number of awards.

The pair were then tapped to present Pop Idol 2001, which made them primetime Saturday night television. This allowed them to host Saturday Night Takeaway on Saturday nights.

Ant and Dec have presented I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here since it began in 2002. They are also regular hosts of Britain’s Got Talent after reportedly signing a £40 million deal with ITV.

Dec spoke about their special bond and said that Ant and he had vowed from the beginning to stay together.

“We made a pact. We said to each other ‘Look, whatever happens, I’ll always be there for you and you’re never in this life on your own or against the world – you’ve always got a mate looking out for you.’”
