Declan Rice says West Ham pals “wind me up” over £150m links

Declan Rice admitted that West Ham team-mates are often more tolerant than he is. ‘wind him up’His links to the club.

Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in Rice, a 23-year old midfielder. Rice admitted that his Hammers teammates have been making fun of Rice because of the constant speculation.

Sky Sports interviewed him: “I feel like playing well comes with speculation. I’ve had two or three top seasons with West Ham and the top clubs around the country are always going to be watching. It’s not just me, it’s the same for every player.

“I think it’s important not to get too carried away with that. We’ve had a good season with West Ham and there have been big games I’ve had to play in so I feel like my focus has always been on that. If I thought about other things, I’d get carried away and that wouldn’t be fair on the team or the manager.”

He continued: “Even with all the statistics being discussed, speculation is something I cannot help but indulge in. It’s a constant battle on social media. But I cannot help it. I can help by going on the pitch and performing as best as I can.”

Rice has often been the recipient of wind-ups by his team-mates

The speculation about Rice’s future has increased in recent months, with Rice frequently making headlines. But West Ham boss David Moyes has regularly suggested that his star player is not for sale and that for clubs to stand any chance of his signature they must fork out north of £150million, a price that would make Rice the most expensive British player of all time.

“The first thing to say is that he is not for sale,” Moyes said. “If you are interested, well, it will be north of that,”Sky Sports was informed by the manager from Scotland. Last summer, one hundred million pounds was a bargain. Although he would not be for sale if he were to sell at one hundred fifty, that is the minimum. What I do know is that it means there are only certain clubs that could even consider it.”
