Dancing On Ice: Brendan Cole gets emotional after dance

Dancing On Ice’s Brendan Cole reckons a taxi driver he swore at deserved it.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 45, defended his behaviour in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The New Zealand native had a run in with the driver after arriving half an hour late to be picked up.

Defending the testy exchange on social media, Brendan wrote: “To the driver who just drove like a maniac because I was 30 minutes late for my pick up…

“Once again, I’ve very sorry for messing up my pick up time, it was indeed my mistake and my sincere apologies for that!

“However, your attitude and behaviour after that was unacceptable and you deserved the expletive you got from me as I left your vehicle… I stand by it!”

“I hope you have a better day from now on and your next client doesn’t make a mistake like I did.”

In pictures obtained by Silver Screen Beat Brendan could be seen shouting at the driver, wearing shorts with blue tape strapped to his leg.

He was also carrying a sports bag indicating he was either on his way to or from Dancing On Ice rehearsals with skating partner Vanessa Bauer.

The professional dancer is the clear favourite to win the ITV show with the bookies, which is no surprise giving his dancing background.

Brendan took part in Strictly for 15 years until he was axed in 2018 when his contract was not renewed.

He claimed the BBC made an “editorial decision” not to keep him on.

The star’s appearance on Dancing on Ice has caused some controversy, with some viewers claiming he has an ‘unfair’ advantage.

Even host Phillip Schofield quipped that Brendan’s dance background gave him a leg-up over co-stars, but Olympian Christopher Dean disagreed.

He said: “First of all, you learn to skate. And before you can dance, you’ve got to skate.”

Brendan is doing his best to improve every week, but he accidentally injured Vanessa in training.

The dancer took to Instagram explaining that while attempting a jump with the German-born skater, he kicked her in the shin with his blade.

He wrote: “When you 3 jump on the ice and kick your partner in the shin with the back end of your blade, sorry @vanessabauer_skates”.

Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday on ITV at 6.30pm.
