Evelyn Boswell Case: Unsettling Details About Tennessee Toddler’s Demise

-

Disturbing details have emerged about the tragic death 15-month-old Evelyn Boswell. Evelyn was reported missing for months prior to her disappearance in February 2020.

Tennessee’s coroner said the baby died from asphyxiation and that she was wrapped in a blanket. A “mechanical obstruction”The forensic expert also stated that aluminum foil was also found in Evelyn’s airway.

Dr. Darinka Mileusnic Polchan, a Tennessee medical examiner, recently testified to the cause of the child’s death. According to the Knox and Anderson chief medical examiners, Evelyn was so tightly bound that there were indentations across her face.

The Sept. 28 hearing was held to determine which autopsy photos would be presented to trial jurors. Megan Boswell’s attorney argued that the gruesome images could influence panelists. She faces multiple charges, including murder and abuse.

Evelyn was found dead on March 6, 2020 on her grandfather’s land. He had contacted the state Department of Children’s Services on Feb. 18, 2020, saying he had not laid eyes on the baby since Thanksgiving. Investigators found out that Evelyn had been seen only once before, in early December.

Authorities stated that several Boswell relatives, including Megan, lived on the property at different times.

Brian Fraley, agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, also testified at the hearing.

“We received a call from the defendant’s father talking about property — a storage shed on the property,”Fraley spoke to the court. Fraley believed that it might have been useful for us to search it. So we responded and searched it. We found the body in the trash can, and there was a playhouse.”

Fraley said Evelyn’s remains were in a plastic garbage bag, with other bags piled around it. “He testified that he had seen a leg and foot attached to the trash.

The coroner stated that Evelyn was still alive when she was thrown head-first into a trashcan. According to the medical exam, she died from asphyxiation due to being placed in the garbage can along with the aluminum foil and blanket.

Fraley also testified to Megan Boswell telling investigators that Megan accidentally drowned while she was sleeping in a bed with Megan Boswell and a boyfriend. But Mileusnic-Polchan testified that Evelyn was too old to die in such a manner.

Megan Boswell has pleaded guilty to all charges but is being held without bail. She is due to next appear in court Dec. 16. Her trial is set to begin in February.
