Fans think Chelsea have released Inter Milan-themed kit to ‘keep Romelu Lukaku happy’

Fans are claiming that Chelsea have appeared to have appeased Romelu Lukaku’s supposed love of Inter Milan by forging a kit in their style.

An image of the striker has surfaced with him standing in a Blues kit with has varying shades of blue hoops.

It’s very much in the style, some say, of the Serie A club, who have blue with either black or a darker shade of blue. Some on social media were quick to make the comparison.

One said online: “Chelsea doing everything they can to make Lukaku think he’s at Inter Milan.”

Someone said: “Chelsea has released a new kit that looked exactly like Inter Milan’s kit just so Lukaku would start performing.”

Another wrote: “Chelsea actually made Lukaku an inter shirt so he might start scoring.”

A third wrote online: “Amazing gesture from Chelsea for making Lukaku feel totally at home since his interview about missing inter.”

Remind you of anything?

Of course, Lukaku landed himself in hot water earlier this year for his interview with Sky Italia.

In an attempt to appease furious Inter fans, he came across as though he wanted to make an immediate return.

He said: “I think everything that happened last summer was not supposed to happen like this… how I left Inter, the way I left the club, how I communicated with Inter fans – this bothers me because it was not the right time.

“Now it’s the right time to share my feelings. I have always said that I have Inter in my heart: I know I will return to Inter, I really hope so. I am in love with Italy, this is the right moment to talk and let people know what really happened.

“I really hope from bottom of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but when I’m still at the top level to win more together.

“I want to apologise to the Inter fans, the timing of my words was wrong: what you did for me will remain forever.”

Lukaku joined Chelsea for £97.5million last August but has so far not been able to live up to his hefty price tag.

He had scored 64 goals in 95 games for the Nerazzurri but Inter allowed him to rejoin Chelsea last summer.

The 28-year-old has scored eight goals in 24 appearances for the west London club this season, with injuries and even Covid disrupting his form.
