Fantasia’s Music Career

Her Family History ‘The Color Purple’
Fantasia joined Broadway’s musical theatre cast in 2007 The Color PurpleCelie, the lead role. The musical is based upon the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1982 novel with the same title. It was also made into an animated movie in 1985 starring Whoopi Goldberg, directed by Steven Spielberg.
Fantasia received rave reviews as her performance of Celie. She revealed in 2008 that she was asked to reprise her role in the movie version. As discussions continued about the movie’s production, the singer stayed busy.
In the touring production of Celie, she played Celie. The Color PurpleShe starred on her own reality television show. Fantasia For Real, and won her first Grammy award in 2011 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Bittersweet.”
Her Movie Debut will be the Upcoming Movie
Fantasia was offered the role of Mahalia Jackson, legendary gospel singer, in a biopic. But the project was cancelled, and Fantasia didn’t get to make her big-screen debut.

Many people had forgotten that the musical version was available in The Color PurpleWhile the possibility of it being made into a movie is still possible, Fantasia has been confirmed to reprise her role as Celie.
This marks Fantasia’s first movie role, and it’s expected to launch the singer into a new level of fame. The movie will be in theaters December next year. Stars such as Taraji P.
