Florida International University Football player Luke Knox has died at 22


Florida International University is grieving the loss of a college-level football player Luke Knox

In a short statement, the Miami school confirmed his passing. It was posted to the FIU Athletics account on August 18.

“We are saddened by the sudden passing of Luke Knox, a member of the FIU Football program,”The Tweet read. “We send our thoughts and prayers to Luke’s family, friends and teammates during this difficult time.” 

According to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s office, Luke died August 17, 2012. Unknown is the cause of death. The cause of death has not been revealed. Associated PressAccording to reports, the school stated that police don’t suspect foul play.

Luke, a junior linebacker for the Golden Panthers, transferred to FIU earlier this year from the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of the Ole Miss Rebels football team.
