Florida Mom Unthinkablely Discovers Her 9-Year Old Son Killed in Murder-Suicide by Father: Police

According to news reports, a Florida mother searching for her son, 9 years old, discovered that her father had allegedly murdered him during a weekend visit. 

Officers from the St. Petersburg Florida Police Department found 44-year-old Kevin Bybee and his son, Andres Chateau, inside Bybee’s residence at the Trellis at the Lakes Apartment Complex on Monday around 9:45 a.m., according to a Statement was obtained from the St. Petersburg Police. 

Authorities reported that they received a call by the apartment management confirming the death of the couple. Police said the boy’s mother went to the apartment building to pick up her son after the weekend when she learned the gruesome news.

According to the police statement a preliminary investigation found that Bybee killed his son, then used the same gun for himself to kill himself. 

Jessica Chateau, a grieving mother, shared with WTSP her grief that her son had died. “pure sunshine.”

She said it while clutching his stuffed pet. “It’s just not real.”

“I have every moment burned into my brain,” Chateau said. “His eyes and his smile… every time I would talk to him, he would just light up and shine and radiate love. Just appreciate every moment with your babies.”

WTSP reported that the police stated that the couple were having a custody battle. Court documentsThe news outlet reported that Bybee was being evicted out of his apartment.

A GoFundMeKaren Perkins, a close friend, created the site to help Chateau with funeral expenses.

“This memorial fund will go to Jessica to help pay for Andres’ funeral expenses and bills, until his mother can return to work,”Perkins wrote. Perkins wrote: “Andres was an energetic, loving young man who brought so much joy and love to his family and friends. Please donate any amount you can and keep his young mother, family and friends in your prayers. He will be FOREVER loved and missed by his mother, relatives, and his many friends.”

They have raised more than $17,000 towards their goal to reach $25,000.

On Sunday, family and friends gathered for a celebration of life for Andres at the Epperson Lagoon Wesley Chapel FL.
