Gabriel is ‘aware’ that Juventus is growing transfer interest, as Arsenal’s stance emerges

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes reportedly acknowledged Juventus’ interest to sign him. However, Gunners chief Mikel Arete is determined not to lose the Brazilian defender this season.

Gabriel Magalhaes was reportedly made aware that Juventus is interested in signing him up from Arsenal, but the Gunners still want to retain their Brazilian star.

Gabriel has evolved into a key player for Mikel Arteta’s side since he was lured to London in a £27million deal from Lille back in September 2020, and struck up a strong understanding with defensive partner Ben White last term.

It is not surprising then that Gabriel’s outstanding form has been noted by clubs across Europe. The Gunners might be left vulnerable if they attempt to sign Gabriel away from Emirates.

Brazilian outlet UOLThe defender was ‘aware’ that Juventus is interested, as revealed exclusively by The Mirror earlier in the month. According to the report, the Gunners and Gabriel have been in contact with the Italian giants. However, it is clear that any possible deal will not be straightforward.

Arteta doesn’t want to weaken his team. He wants to strengthen his squad so that the Londoners can return to the Champions League after five years of exile. The Gunners were in pole place to secure a spot in Europe’s premier competition for their first time since 2016-17 when their form collapsed in its final weeks.

Arteta is not only a great striker but Arteta also appears to be looking for a left-back or a central midfielder. With some minor tweaks, Arteta believes his team can compete with the Premier League’s top four. It is hard to imagine the Gunners approving the sale of one their top stars.

The Mirror earlier this week revealed that Gabriel is keen to remain at Emirates. Furthermore, the Arsenal hierarchy may be considering offering Gabriel a new contract.

Gabriel was one of many first-team players who suffered injuries during the final weeks of the season. This led to the Gunners’ implosion in top-four. Gabriel was able to return to fitness in time to take part in Arsenal’s season-ending match. However, the Gunners’ man could still be a concern for injury after missing out on Brazil’s 5-1 victory over South Korea.

White, a defender, was forced out of the England squad due to pain in the left thigh muscles. White’s injury kept him from playing in the international clash.
