Maxwell was detained in July 2020, one year after Epstein was also detained and charged with federal crimes. In December she was convicted of five federal charges, including sex trading with a minor. Maxwell was detained in 2020 and Maxwell received credit for her time served. She will be released from prison in 2037 as a result. Epstein was her ex-boyfriend and was charged with federal crimes in July 2019. He died a month later in prison.
