After his One Direction bandmate’s strange Oscars interview, Harry Styles is open about his ‘transatlantic accent.
Fans were baffled when Liam Payne, Wolverhampton’s native, spoke with a new accent on his red carpet interview with Good Morning Britain. Many people then asked him why he had changed his voice.
Liam talked long about Will Smith’s dramatic slap on Chris Rock. He said he was close to Chris Rock. “three losers in one fight” — Will, Chris and Jada.
Some viewers were confused and commented that he seemed to speak in Los Angeles, while others heard strange Irish and Welsh intonations. He was not from England.
Harry was asked Friday morning by Roman Kemp and Sonny Jay if he’d also begun to get a little more active. “transatlantic accent from America”He replied by saying:
“Well don’t think in the time that I just got here, because I only got in yesterday for Coachella rehearsals, so in the space I’ve been here this trip I think I’ve survived”
“I think it’s a little bit all over the place because I’m from up north and I’ve lived in London for 10 years and I’ve spent a lot of time in America and stuff and I think when I’m with Americans they don’t think I sound American at all, and then I think sometimes when I’m with English people they expect me to sound American, I don’t think I do, but I try and translate for whoever I’m with!”
Roman also asked the singer if he considers himself a singer. “an artist first or an actor first”He claimed that he thought he was an a “musician first”
“I feel really lucky to get to do a job that I love and I feel very grateful to have been able to explore acting, something I did when I was a kid and stuff at school and I always really loved it.”He said so.
