Hollyoaks McQueen’s most tragic deaths: Train crashes, murders, and explosions


Hollyoaks fans were left in tears when Sylver McQueen (David Tag), was killed in a fire explosion earlier this week.

Many members of McQueen’s family were at danger of death, including Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), Cher (Bethannie Hare).

Sylver, however, was made one of the victims. Actor David Tag has since confirmed his resignation from the role.

Since 2006, the McQueen Family has experienced their fair share of tragedy and heartbreak since they arrived in the village.

Viewers have witnessed some of the shocking storylines that the McQueens have been involved in over the years. These include train crashes, murders, and more.

Silver Screen Beat has taken a look at the McQueen family’s most tragic deaths on soap, and the deaths of their loved ones.

Tina McQueen

Hollyoaks was thrilled to introduce Vicar Niall Rafferty as a new character. But viewers had no idea what was in store for the McQueens and the tragic end that would follow.

It was discovered that Niall had been adopted as a baby by Myra McQueen. After this shocking revelation, Niall kidnapped McQueen sister.

He secured them in a church before setting off explosives. Myra was then asked which of her children she wanted to be alive or dead.

Tina McQueen died at the blast. Myra saved her son.

Tina McQueen sustained fatal injuries when she fell onto rubble as the McQueens fled from the church.

She was lying injured and shared an intimate moment with Dominic, her husband, as he held her before she died.

Hollyoaks fans were devastated to hear about Carmel McQueen’s tragic death. She was killed in a train accident on the wedding day of her cousin Porsche.

Although the train was hired for guests, tragedy struck when it hit Sienna Blakes’ car after getting stuck on the tracks.

Carmel told Theresa McQueen moments before the train exploded to get revenge on Sonny Valentine for shooting her brother.

The train exploded after Theresa ran away, and Sonny was killed.

Carmel was saved by the McQueens, who ran back to the train. Carmel died in their arms.

Metro asked Gemma Merna to talk about Carmel’s final scenes. “There was a shot that I asked if we could put in, of Carmel waving goodbye before she gets on the train. I thought it was a way of her saying goodbye.

“Also, her death scene was very emotional… we all just cried all day! Ha. It is something I am proud of.”

She added that she was very proud to be a part of the soap, saying: “At the time, I don’t think I and the rest of the family realised how iconic the McQueen Family was for the world of soap. I’m so grateful I was part of it.”

Phoebe McQueen

Before she became the thirteenth Doctor’s assistant in Doctor Who from 2012 to 2015, Mandip Gill, an actress, played Phoebe McQueen on Hollyoaks.

Phoebe, Jacqui McQueen’s adopted daughter, was accidentally shot in the head and taken to hospital.

Phoebe, who had been in a coma several weeks, underwent surgery. However, Phoebe went into cardiac arrest after being given a lethal mixture by The Gloved Hand Killer.

Her death devastated her family and viewers, with Phoebe being another victim of the Glovedhand Killer, along with other Hollyoaks residents Dylan Jenkins, Will Savage, and others.

This was one of the most popular Who Done it stories, with the serial killer eventually being revealed to be Lindsey Roscoe.

Lily McQueen

After a wound became infected, Lily McQueen succumbed to sepsis.

Lily McQueen was a cheater on Prince McQueen and Romeo Quinn. She felt guilty and began to self-harm.

Doctors discovered that Lily had developed sepsis after she checked herself out from the hospital. This was due to an infection in one of her self-harm wounds.

Although doctors confirmed the diagnosis, Lily decided not to run away with Romeo, and instead decided that she would reunite with Prince. But on the way back, she fell to the floor.

Prince tried to perform CPR for Lily, but she eventually died.

The soap won praise from critics and viewers alike, and was named Best Storyline and Best Single Episode at the 2018 British Soap Awards.

Lauren McQueen was the actress who played Lily McQueen. She said so to Heart Radio “I was honoured to be given such a huge story that carried a lot of responsibility.

“Although it was hard and difficult, I am proud of what I accomplished and I hope that it will raise awareness.”

She added: “I hope the storyline helps the audience understand the seriousness of self-harm and how it can lead to life-threatening consequences.

“Sepsis is actually very common, which many people may not know what the symptoms are, and it’s something that needs to be treated very quickly.

“It will hopefully open up many conversations and encourage people to talk to Lily and seek help if they can relate.

Malachy Fisher

Malachy Fisher’s sudden death shocked Hollyoaks residents as well as Mercedes McQueen (in 2010).

Malachy, who had suffered organ damage, was eating at Gnosh restaurant when a fire broke out.

Mercedes placed him in a deep coma and made the tragic decision to turn off his life support.

Glen Wallace, an actor on the soap, was nominated at the British Soap Awards for Best Actor. However, he left Hollyoaks to continue his soap career.

Since then, you can see him on TV as Lucas, a business associate to Carla in the ITV soap Coronation Street.

Glen also played a role as DS Cameron Bryant on EastEnders. This was the same soap that Glen appeared in, and was part of the famous Who killed Lucy Beale storyline.

Russ Owen

Russ Owen was raped by a McQueen relative.

Many of Hollyoaks’ on-screen relationships end in tragic ways, such as Russ Owens’ death in 2018.

He was killed by Breda McQueen after his affair with another family member was revealed. This happened just a few weeks after he had married Mercedes McQueen.

It was revealed that Russ had an affair with Goldie MacQueen. She then confirmed that Russ was pregnant with her child.

Stuart Manning, the actor who played Russ on the show’s shocking exit, thanked the fans in a Twitter message, thanking them for their support. “It’s been an amazing three months, the best time of my life working on Hollyoaks.

“I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some incredible people and working with some of the best cast and crew.

“But now I’m gone. Russ has been killed. So I don’t know what to say, apart from thank you. I’m going to miss everyone.”

Sylver meet a grisly end following a huge explosion at Salon De Thé this week.

After days of flashback episodes, Tuesday’s drama-filled hour-long episode allowed viewers to finally find out what really happened at the night of blaze.

When Mercedes saved Cher’s lives, the McQueens proved just how strong they are.

Tragically, Sylver returned to Bobby’s aid and was trapped when a boat landed on top of him.

Bobby lied to his family, saying he didn’t see his stepdad in the building burning. Sylver died in the fires.
