Guy Pearce, a movie star, is back to his roots in the last series of Neighbours TV soap.
From 1986 to 1989 the 54-year-old was Mike Young’s character on the show. Ramsay Street storylines explored the consequences of domestic abuse, student teacher relationships, and grieving for loved ones.
Since leaving Neighbours, Pearce has had many major roles in films including LA Confidential, Memento and Oscar-winning feature The King’s Speech.
He was recently seen as Richard Ryan in the award-winning drama Mare Of Easttown.
Guy is now set to complete a comeback on the show as it ends after 33 years, joining a list of actors returning to celebrate 37 years of Neighbours including Kylie Minogue (Charlene Robinson), Jason Donovan (Scott Robinson), ter O’Brien (Shane Ramsay), Mark Little (Joe Mangel) and Olympia Valance (Paige Smith),

Pearce said: “It is very exciting and surreal at the same time being back on set again, however it feels like coming home.”It’s where it all started for me professionally. I’ve been asked to come back on occasions over the years and wondered if it was the right thing to do, but once I knew the show was finishing, I knew I had to do it.
“While I’ve caught up with many of the cast I worked with on the show over the years, there is nothing like being here all together again.”

Jason Herbison, the Neighbours’ executive producer, said: ‘I’Guy’s return to the show is an incredible honor.
‘Having him back on set has been poignant for him and for us. He’s been very involved in the storyline, and I can’t wait to finally answer the question for viewers – who is Mike Young today?”.
The actor will be reunited with co-stars still part of the show’s regular cast including Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Annie Jones (Jane Harris), Geoff Paine (Clive Robinson), Lucinda Cowden (Melanie Pearson) and Richard Huggett (Glen Donnelly).
