In this adorable BBC Paddington Bear sketch, the Queen shows us what she keeps in her bag

BBC viewers shared their love for the Queen’s opening sketch with beloved British children’s fictional character Paddington Bear as she opened her Platinum Party at the Palace.

On Saturday (June 4), the biggest names in music joined to put on a stellar performance for the third day of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

Her Royal Highness, who was celebrating her Golden Jubilee in 2012, opened the event along with James Bond. Daniel Craig dressed in a smart tuxedo escorted her to historic event.

But it’s fair to say viewers were impressed with her new sidekick as her furry friend joined her for afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace.

This sweet sketch shows the couple sharing their love for afternoon tea and marmalade sandwiches. The Monarch even opens her black handbag to reveal her full-sized supply of sandwiches.

The Queen confirms the loveable bear’s confession by revealing what he has under his hat. “So do I”Before she opens her bag, she adds: “I keep mine in here.”

Inadvertently, the Peruvian-born bear causes chaos in the Palace by denying the Queen of Tea a second cup and spreading cream from a chocolate eclair across the Palace Footman.

He concludes the scene by thanking Her Majesty and saying: “Happy Jubilee Ma’am. And thank you. For everything”Which she replied modestly: “That’s very kind.”

Fans took to Twitter to show their support for the dynamic duo after watching the two-minute clip.

One user penned: “If you take anything away from this … take the absolute joy on the face of The Queen having tea and marmalade sandwiches with Paddington Bear #PlatinumPartyatthePalace. [smiley emoji, love heart emoji].”
