Users who upload clips from TikTok to Instagram will soon see fewer views and get fewer likes.
Adam Mosseri from Instagram announced via Twitter that the social media platform will now rank its content based on originality. This is in apparent opposition to TikTok content being reused.
Instagram is asking users to upload more original content to Reels. This short video format mimics TikTok’s quick vertical-scrolling video clip format.
Instagram will begin to remove content from ‘aggregators’ accounts that repost work of others and push original posts towards users.

Mosseri stated: “If you create something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you are re-sharing something that you found from someone else.
“We are going to do more to encourage original content to be valued more than reposted content.”
Some of the most popular content on Instagram Reels is reposted TikTok videos, with many clips even including the TikTok logo.
Mosseri also took the time to announce the addition of enhanced tags for posts and products as Instagram expands its shop function.

These new updates are the latest of a series major changes to Instagram.
Instagram’s chronological newsfeed feature was restored last month after years of high demand.
The app now offers two options to select what you see in your Instagram feed: “Favourites” and “Following”.
Favourites allows to view posts from favourite accounts.
“Following” shows you new posts from all your followers in the order that they were posted.
