The royal family is always busy. They meet with diplomats all over the globe, attend charity functions, and meet their subjects. They still manage to have fun and enjoy some games. What is the point? Queen Elizabeth’s favorite game?

The Queen’s Favorite ‘Parlor Games’

The royals love to play games with their guests when they are together on holidays. According to Duncan Larcombe (royal biographer)They love to play “parlor games, charades…that all comes from Queen Victoria, and they absolutely carry on those traditions and games.”

While there is one game Queen Elizabeth refuses to play with the family, charades is the queen’s favorite game, and she reportedly thinks she’s the best at the acting game out of all of her family members. It’s rumored that, ahead of their first Christmas together, Prince Harry warned Meghan Markle to not upstage the queen Her professional acting talents.

Queen Elizabeth loves charades and a variety of other things. “parlor games.”Another of her favorite things is “The Name Game.” The royal family plays it so often that it’s usually just referred to as “The Game.”

Post-It note players write the names well-known people and put them in an alphabetical hat. The players choose one and stick it to their foreheads. They then have to guess the name by asking the other players yes or no questions. 

The Royal Family’s New Year’s Eve Tradition

The queen also has a special game that she and the rest of the royals play on New Year’s Eve. Brian Hoey, a royal biographer, says Queen Elizabeth enjoys a game called “Lucky Dip”To celebrate the holiday. 

A footman presents the queen a container filled with sawdust and pieces paper with random sentences or predictions for the next year. “Each member of the Royal Family takes a lucky dip and if their particular forecast is not very favorable the poor footman gets the blame,” Hoey explains

The Video Game Queen Elizabeth is a Fan

Additional to “parlor games,” According to reports, the queen also enjoys video games. Kate Middleton, then-boyfriend to Prince William, gifted a Wii. Queen Elizabeth apparently enjoyed the Wii Sports Bowling game.

Even though Queen Elizabeth has lots of responsibilities to attend to each day, it’s nice to know that even she finds time to unwind with her family and play some games.
