ITV viewers shocked to see Masked Singer Poodle as Keane star Tom Chaplin.

Poodle is now the fifth character to get the boot in the current series.

ITV’s bizarre guessing game show was back on our screens Saturday night for the third season.

The eight remaining contestants took the stage to face off for the first-time.

The characters performed their best to impress the studio audience as well celebrity detectives Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Davina Mcall, and Jonathan Ross.

Joel Dommett announced, after many spectacular performances, the names and ages of the contestants at risk.

Robobunny & Poodle were in the bottom two. Mo, Davina, Rita, and Jonathan had to choose which character to send home.

The panel decided to remove Poodle from the public eye and waited patiently to discover their true identity.

Later, it was revealed that Keane singer Tom Chaplin was hiding under the mask.

Twitter was flooded with fans who were shocked at the news.

One Twitter user wrote this: “As if the lead singer of Keane was poodle? I did not see that coming.”

A second: “Well @tomchaplin had me completely fooled! Didn’t want Poodle to go home but I was embarrassingly overexcited to see it was him”

A third person is posted: “I totally thought Poodle was @LeeMack”

A fourth user of social media said: “I was convinced poodle was Mika so that was a fun surprise reveal #MaskedSingerUK”

Last Saturday’s episode featured Pat Cash, a former tennis champion.

The sportsman, who was eliminated from the programme due to his inability to continue the series, spoke out about his motivations.

He stated: “I’ve always been a frustrated rock star and fancied doing the Masked Singer from the first day I saw it.

“It was just something I thought would be great to rock out. However, I prefer to hide behind my guitar rather than a sweaty mask.

“It was a great experience overall. As luck would have it, my schedule cleared.

“I’m a big believer in letting your higher power take over and I suppose it meant I was able to take part in the show.”

After performing as Chandelier, Heather Small, a singing sensation, was the first celebrity to be removed from the show.

Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford was also announced as Snow Leopard and Lion Fish, respectively.

Fans will have a wait to discover which celebrities are hiding behind these remaining disguises.

The Masked Singer continues Saturday at 7pm on ITV/ITV Hub
