Ralf Rangnick talks about Ronaldo’s fitness

Jose Mourinho is believed to have expressed his dismay at the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo being resigned while he was in charge Manchester United.

Mourinho is known to have had a relationship with Ronaldo before they were married for three years at Real Madrid. But the Portuguese couple did not always see eye it eye.

Ronaldo returned to United 12 years later than he left for Santiago Bernabeu. He also had a three-year stint with Juventus, but Mourinho had already fled Old Trafford when the five-time Ballon d’or winner was back.

According to talkSPORTJim White, pundit. There were many occasions when Ronaldo could have been resigned in recent years but United chose not to accept it.

White stated: “Over the years there have been many discussions over Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United.

“This might have been possible when he left Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho, at the time, made it clear that he had other priorities.”

At the time of Ronaldo’s Real Madrid exit, United were fairly well-stocked in terms of their attacking department with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford just three of the options at Mourinho’s disposal.

Ronaldo ended up in Turin as a player for the Italian giants Juventus, where he won 2 Serie A titles over his three years of service.

September 2021 was his triumphant return. He took to life like he’d never left and wore a brace every day.

Unfortunately, both Ronaldo and United have suffered since then.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer led Ronaldo’s return to form, but he was sacked two years later. Ralf Rangnick was appointed as interim manager until the end.

Although results have improved, the quality of performance is still poor. Reports are starting to emerge that Ronaldo may be one of many United players who are disillusioned by the German management style and tactics.

According to Silver Screen BeatJorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, is on his way to England to have crisis talks with him and the club to try to resolve the problems that are clearly brewing.

Ronaldo will remain with the club through the summer 2023, but could leave sooner if the situation doesn’t improve at Old Trafford.
