Gareth Southgate is confused as to why Jurgen Klopp keeps taking a stance. ‘swing’At him.
The Liverpool boss has criticised the England manager’s handling of his Anfield players three times already this season.
This included playing Trent Alexander-Arnold as a midfielder against Andorra last month, rather than his usual position of right-back.
Asked if he understands what he has done to rattle Klopp’s cage so much, Southgate said: “Well, no, not really!
“I don’t quite know why he keeps having a swing. You’d have to ask him. I think we’ve always got on reasonably well.
“I’ve noticed quite a few articles and quite a few comments, which is always interesting to see.

“I’ve got no problem with Jurgen at all. You’d have to ask him why he’s made the comments.”
Klopp’s other gripes were over Southgate picking Manchester City’s out-of-favour defender John Stones ahead of Reds defender Joe Gomez earlier this season – and Curtis Jones getting injured on Under-21 duty last month..
Southgate thinks that the problem with the English managerial merry-go around is not having a good rapport with Premier League clubs.

“They come and go pretty quickly. It’s important to have a good relationship somewhere in the clubs.
“But maybe managers isn’t the priority because it’s very transient,” he explained.
“I don’t think that will be the case with the Liverpool manager, by the way!”
