Kate Middleton has been wearing a lot of her old outfits recently, and there have been some deja vu moments over the past few months.
The Duchess Of Cambridge is known for her sparkling smile and this week’s Royal Variety performance was no exception.
But while her green sequinned floor-length gown was spectacular there’s one thing it wasn’t… brand new. Because like many celebrities she’s making environmentally-friendly decisions when it comes to their red carpet wardrobes.
Last month, Prince William invited guests to his Earthshot Prize ceremony. “consider the environment” when planning their outfit for the glitzy event – but the one person he didn’t need to convince was wife Kate. Since joining the royal family a decade back, she has been wearing her favorite looks over and over again.
While us commoners wouldn’t even consider only wearing a £2,000 dress once, it’s more unusual for the royals, who have designers queuing up to make them stunning outfits and no concerns over the price tag.
Kate appears to have improved her rewearing skills in recent months. She has had a few deja vu moments, including the Remembrance Sunday coat.
And it’s not just her eye-wateringly expensive gowns that Kate rewears, she’s also donned several of her high street bargains multiple times.
Kate, like many moms-to be, kept many of her maternity clothes when she gave birth to Prince George. She re-used them during her pregnancy with Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
But nothing beats the pair of trusty boots she’s been wearing regularly for 17 years – both for royal events and while out and about with her family.

When Kate took the Queen’s place centre stage at this year’s Remembrance Sunday service at The Cenotaph, she opted against buying a new black outfit for the emotional day.
She instead wore the same Alexander McQueen-inspired jacket that she wore in 2021 for the event.
She teamed it with a pair of Princess Diana’s pearl earrings.

Kate dug deeper into her wardrobe to find the Earthshot Prize gown in London last month. It was nearly a decade old.
Prince wore his green velvet blazer again, while Kate looked stunning in the Alexander McQueen lilac gown that she wore when she was a newlywed to an LA BAFTA event.
It was also another outing for her Kiki McDonough earrings, which she previously wore to her sister Pippa’s wedding in 2017.

She dressed it up by pairing it with a black fascinator on the first occasion. She wore her hair down in a ponytail on the second occasion.

Kate has worn her teal Emilia Wickstead dress three times, which suggests it’s another of her favourites.
The statement piece, which draws inspiration from Queen Elizabeth II’s block colour scheme, is a huge hit with fashion lovers.
It was her first time wearing it on her Royal Tour of New Zealand 2014, and she rediscovered it the next year for a visit at the Action on Addictions Centre.
A few years later it was back again for her trip to the BBC to view the organisation’s work to tackle cyberbullying.

Kate also reused outfits for large royal events, and her Alexander McQueen cream coat dress has been worn three times to high-profile events.
She bought the piece for her daughter Princess Charlotte’s christening in 2015, and re-wore it for Trooping the Colour the following year and for a trip to Belgium in 2017.
Many fans thought she also wore the dress to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ’s wedding in 2018, however, it was actually a different outfit – but very similar.

Kate recently recycled a gorgeous, glittery green dress for Royal Variety Performance.
Jenny Packham’s Jenny Packham dress is decorated in sequins making it the ideal choice for the red carpet.
She wore it for the first time just before the pandemic.
