Kate Middleton’s Commonwealth Day Jewelry Nods to Support Ukraine

Kate MiddletonThe duchess was among the many members who attended the Commonwealth Day services at Westminster Abbey earlier this year. The duchess looked stylish as ever and even gave a subtle nod towards Ukraine in her jewelry. 

Middleton’s Subtle Support Of Ukraine

Middleton was accompanied by Prince William and her husband Prince Charles to the church services along with Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowes and Princess Alexandra. Buckingham Palace previously stated that Queen Elizabeth would not attend the service after discussing her comfort in travel arrangements. 

The service, honoring the 54 countries and nations that make up the British Commonwealth, was held for the first time since 2020 — the 2021 ceremony was canceled and replaced with a smaller ceremony due to the pandemic. 

Middleton wore bright blue coat with velvet collar and a bright blue coat. The look was completed with a blue suede pump, a black leather glove, and matched pillbox hat. The same earrings and necklace were worn by the Duchess and Duke of Cambridge when she met with the President of Ukraine and First Lady of Ukraine in 2021. 

William and she released a written statement regarding the invasion. “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future.”

The Russian Invasion: The Royals and Other Royals Talk About It

Middleton isn’t the only member of the royal family making her support of Ukraine known amid the ongoing Russian invasion. The Disasters Emergency Committee tweeted Queen Elizabeth had made a donation to support Ukraine. 

“Many thanks to Her Majesty The Queen for continuing to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and for making a generous donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal,”According to the organization. 

Other family members also supported the Ukrainian people publicly. Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, met with Ukrainians in London, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle issued a statement as well, saying they ​​”stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.” 

President Zelenskyy thanked family members for their support. He tweeted that Olena and he had thanks to them. “are grateful to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge @RoyalFamily that at this crucial time, when Ukraine is courageously opposing Russia’s invasion, they stand by our country and support our brave citizens. Good will triumph.” Middleton and the rest of the royals’ support of Ukraine are more and more important as the invasion of Ukraine continues.
