Leeds and Barcelona strike Raphinha agreement, with limited transfer options for wingers

Leeds star Raphinha is linked to an Elland Road departure. Liverpool and Barcelona are also linked, but Barcelona seem to have taken a lead in the transfer race

According to reports, Raphinha has agreed to join Barcelona and Leeds ahead of their summer switch.

Since joining Elland Road from Rennes almost two years back, The Whites’ star is a shining light at Elland Road.

Leeds has struggled this season, but Raphinha has been a standout for a team fighting relegation.

His performances have been admired by people from all over Europe as well as the Premier League.

Barcelona is currently rebuilding their squad after they hired Xavi earlier in the season. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was joined by Ferran Torres at the Nou Camp in Jan.

The Whites had previously rejected a €35m bid, forcing Barcelona to up their offer.

Ousmane Dembole, a LaLiga star, will be leaving the club this summer. The club and Dembele failed to agree on a new contract. Raphinha is therefore an obvious replacement.

The Brazilian player had been linked to Liverpool and Chelsea after proving his worth in England’s top flight. Both avenues may have been closed by changes at the two teams. After Roman Abramovich’s assets were frozen, the Blues have been subject to a list sanction.

They are not allowed to sign players in transfer markets unless the license they currently operate is changed.

Liverpool seemed to fit Raphinha’s high-energy style, and they may have been in a position to make Raphinha a better player if they offered.

Jurgen Klopp now has another option after Luis Diaz’s January arrival. Diogo Jota’s signing in 2020 has been an inspiring one. This means that the Reds are well-stocked in the last third. Mo Salah’s uncertain future could see him leave this summer. However, there are less rumors about Raphinha switching to Anfield.

In February, the player spoke out about his future. “As for contractual matters, I leave them to my agent and my dad. I just focus on playing my football and making the Leeds fans happy, scoring goals, providing assists and getting victories for the team.”
