Lionel Richie Receives Icon Award During Moving AMAs Tribute


Lionel RichieIt is a night of celebrations.

He has good reason to. On Nov. 20, 2022, the American Music Awards presented the Icon Award to the legendary singer. The 73 year-old singer was honored with this honor and a moving tribute to his performances. Stevie Wonder, Charlie Puth and Ari Lennox.

During their time on stage, StevieAnd Charlie each belted out a few of his hits including, “Say You, Say Me,” “All Night Long,”And “Easy.”Ari was one of many stars who sang on the stage with others. “We Are the World,”These include Melissa Etheridge, Jimmie AllenSmokey RobinsonMuni Long, Dustin Lynch And Yola.

Lionel—whose impressive career in the music industry spans over five decades and counting—also reflected on his journey as he took the stage to accept his trophy. “I started out here at the AMAs,”He said. “And my career, to this day 40 years later, I’m back at the AMAs.”
