Man, 17 years, jailed for raping schoolgirl (12), he was befriended via Snapchat

William Cooper, a Manchester resident, tore the girl’s leggings using his earphones.

A Snapchat date setter arranged a date for a teenage girl who then raped her schoolgirl. The teenager was sentenced to four-years in prison.

William Cooper was only 17 when he made contact with the 12-year old in Manchester in a field.

Cooper, from Newton Heath, gave the youngster a love bite before using his earphones to tear a hole in the girl’s legging.

Cooper, now 19, confessed to rape at Bolton Crown Court. Cooper claimed that he believed the girl was his girlfriend. “closer to 15″When he attacked her.

The incident took place in December 2019 and the girl ran away in tears. He shouted at her: “Come back. Don’t tell anyone or I’ll get people to do stuff to you.”

Six days passed without the girl revealing the truth. Finally, she confided in a pastor.

According to her statement to police, she said that she was nervous about being around men after the attack.

She added: “I am paranoid and feel that people walking behind me are coming to get me.

“My education has suffered and I stopped lessons in school because I don’t want to be around male teachers.

“I would have meltdowns in school because I didn’t want to be around boys and men. Sometimes I must go home after I’m out because I can relive certain incidents when I’m in certain areas.”

The pair first met at Atherton railway station after exchanging messages of a friendly nature. During the liaison Cooper kissed the girl on the head before arranging another date four days later.

Prosecutor Adam Lodge said: “She saw him again at the railway station. They walked to a field next to the primary school. They discussed family and school, before he asked her if she wanted him to sit on the ground.

She sat with her back against him and continued to talk about the normal stuff, such as where she lives and how old she is. The defendant put his hand on her neck, and she said that he was 12. She begged him to stop, but he refused.

The attack lasted for five minutes and she cried out in pain.

Cooper refused to comment on Cooper’s arrest. The girl was found with DNA traces on her clothing.

James Heyworth, the defense counsel, said that Cooper had been through an “adverse and traumatic”The incident occurred while the victim was being raised and was in support housing at the time.

“It is a sad case in many ways,”Mr Heyworth. “It’s sad of course for the victim – but it’s also sad for the defendant who will now bear the consequences of what he has done.”

Cooper will be subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order over ten years. He will also have to sign the Register of Sex Offenders for life.

The judge Miss Recorder Sarah Johnston sentenced him. “The girl has struggled to comprehend and cope with these events and understandably so.

“You did not verify her age. You knew she was not over the age of consent. Based on her account, you must have seen how uncomfortable she was with what was happening.

“Her 12-year-old mind did not want to have sex with you and neither did her 12-year-old body. Yet you carried on regardless to satisfy yourself and nothing else. You had no regard for her feelings whatsoever.”
