Man City claimed that Mr. Injury Erling Haaland would be a ‘bigger flop than Jack Grealish.

Manchester City seems to have reached an agreement regarding Erling Haaland’s summer move, but Borussia Dortmund fans warned the club about the forward’s injury record.

Borussia Dortmund fans warned Manchester City of Erling Haaland’s injury-prone nature before a possible summer move.

City thinks they have won the race to sign the forward, with the Norwegian star being the most sought-after property in football. Pep Guardiola operated almost two seasons without a recognized forward, using a false 9 system. City attempted to sign Harry Kane (from Tottenham) in the summer but had their bids rejected.

Haaland now looks to be their focus with his £63m release clause at the Bundesliga side set to be triggered. A five-year deal worth around £500,000-a-week is thought to have been tabled. City spent big last summer, adding Jack Grealish for £100m – a new British record.

Guardiola is working with the ex-Aston Villa player to get him up to speed at the Etihad. He has been a very active squad player this season. City were warned by Guardiola that Haaland could prove to have a worse return on their investment than the Grealish deal. Haaland is missing the forward due to injury.

One fan posted this on social media: “Oh dear he will become a bigger flop than Grealish, since his injury he hasn’t been the same, maybe he will be for man city but I doubt that.”An additional: “All jokes aside he’s an insane talent but 500k a week for him esp[ecially] considering his injury record is insane.”

Another fan made a slur at the entourage of the player, saying: “30m per year for ghosting and being injured while ‘team Haaland’ is talking s**t the whole time.”Haaland is represented in Washington by Mino Raiola (super agent), who has previously spoken negatively about Guardiola.

Because of his rapid rise, the Dortmund star has been linked to Manchester United as well as Real Madrid. Haaland, who moved to Germany in January 2020, has scored 82 goals in 85 games and excelled at the Champions League stage.

However, his injury history is a concern. While in Germany, the player has had to deal with muscle and knee problems. He missed seven games in a row twice. The first time was due to a torn muscle fiber. This term, he had to sit out for an extended period of time as he was struggling with his hip flexor. Haaland has missed 14 games since October 21 due to an almost ten-week absence.

He was unable to play in Dortmund’s Europa League match with Rangers because of injuries. The Scottish team won the surprise fixture across both legs. Sergio Aguero, the world’s record goalscorer, was left behind by City.
