Man Completes 3,000-Mile Row across the Atlantic Ocean

An Irish man completed his record-breaking rowing journey from New York City, Ireland to Ireland. The trip covered 3000 miles and took 112 consecutive days.

Damian Browne started from Chelsea Piers on June 14, with the goal of reaching Galway.

The former rugby player of 42 years battled gale-force winds, punishing waves and a 20-foot boat which capsized three more times.

He hid in his watertight cabin for a few days.

To stay connected with the world, he used a satellite telephone and could FaceTime his 14-month old daughter.

One point, the water was calm enough to swim in. The brave rower also captured a pod of dolphins that he saw during the journey.

Browne finally achieved his goal, when he reached Galway’s port.

Browne uses his journey to raise funds for four charities. Visit this site for more information
