Man Utd had Vinicius Jr. many years before he moved on to Real but did not sign him

Manchester United reportedly discovered “gem” Vinicius Jr in 2014 but didn’t end up signing him.

The Real Madrid attacker, 21, joined the Los Blancos from Flamengo for £38million in 2018. The Brazilian attacker, who scored a spectacular goal against Manchester City on Tuesday, has been going from strength to strength.

According to ESPNIt is possible that the forward might have ended up at Old Trafford. Carlos Noval is a former Flamengo academy coach. “A foreign scout from Manchester United said: ‘Noval, look at the player you have, he’s a gem! ‘I’ve never seen a 14-year-old player do what he does.

“That reinforced everything we already had in mind. He was a gem to be polished. Everyone wanted Vinicius.” Noval continued: “Corinthians didn’t get to talk to us because they didn’t have the slightest chance. Barcelona, in particular, monitored this boy since he was 13 years old. Real Madrid and most of the big European clubs too.”

Vinicius Jr scored six goals in 49 games for Real Madrid, but this season he has scored 18 goals in 46 games.

Rangnick wants to overhaul his squad this summer, but Vinicius would be a welcome addition.

The trickster was indeed part of the Los Blancos team that played in the thrilling 4-3 Champions League semifinal first leg match at the Etihad earlier in the week. The youngster put the ball through Fernandinho’s legs before embarking on a solo run down the wing and slotting in a goal for the away side.

Man City was left regretting the missed chances to win the tie. Phil Foden stated this in his post match press conference.: “For the fans watching it was obviously a great game of football.

“We are facing a side who has won the Champions League many times. They will be punishing us if they give the ball away. We need to improve on this in the second leg. The tie is still going. “It was a great game. End to end. We started really well and could have killed them off. In these games, we need to take more chances.”
