Antony setback for Ten Hag
While Frenkie de Jong remains Manchester United’s and Erik ten Hag’s primary transfer target this summer, the Dutch manager is also keen to tie up a deal for his former player Antony, who the Red Devils continue to be strongly linked to in the current transfer window.
Although Ten Hag claims that he is pushing for a deal to sign the Brazilian winger’s contract, Catched Offside have claimed that he has been given a huge setback in securing the move by the club’s hierarchy.
According to the report, United will try to sign De Jong if they are successful in doing so. They also plan to sell other players before buying another player as they seek to increase their transfer budget with funds from player departures.
United ‘exploring’ Carrasco deal
Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen all areas of his Manchester United team this summer. According to Spanish reports, the Red Devils are currently ‘exploring’ a possible deal for Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.
As per Spanish outlet AS, the Belgian’s release clause stands at around £51.5m and has alerted a number of other Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, meaning that United will face plenty of competition if the reports about their interest are to be believed.
Ten Hag wants a new striker after the departure of Edinson Cavani. To ease the load on Cristiano Ronaldo, Carrasco could make a good substitute. He scored six goals last term and assisted six others in 34 La Liga matches.
