House of the DragonIt is expected that it will premiere on HBO sometime in 2022. Fire and BloodAvailable now in print, digital, and audiobook formats. You can see who the cast has so far and who they will play in the interim.

Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targyen

Paddy Considine will play King Viserys I Targaryen — after whom Daenerys’ brother is named in the main series. He is the fifth Targaryen dynasty king, succeeding his grandfather King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Viserys is a dragon-rider, but by the time he assumed the throne, his dragon had died and he had never bonded with another. Martin describes him as a widower, and an amiable man who avoids conflict.

Emma D’Arcy plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen

Emma D’Arcy will portray Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the king’s oldest child. Rhaenyra, the king’s only child from his first marriage to Queen Aemma Arryn is publicly declared his heir to Iron Throne. King Viserys would later get married again and have more children including boys. This will call Rhaenyra’s claim to the Iron Throne into question — something she is not happy about at all, and it is never wise to displease a dragon rider like the princess.

Olivia Cooke plays Lady Alicent Hightower

Alicent Hightower is King Viserys I Targaryen’s second wife. However, she is older than Princess Rhaenyra. Despite Rhaenyra’s earlier declaration, she is ambitious and eager to see her sons on Iron Throne.

Steve Toussaint portrays Corlys The Sea Snake’ Velaryon

Steven Toussaint was cast as one the most fascinating characters in Fire and Blood — “The Sea Snake”Lord Corlys Valaryon, Lord the Tides and Master at Driftmark. House Velaryon was not prominent in Game of Thrones. However, in the books, it’s an island-dwelling great home with close ties to House Targaryen. That’s because it too traces its ancestry back to Old Valyria — though its ancestors were never dragon riders.

Corlys is an older man by the dance of the Dragons. But the book describes his entire life and includes his travels throughout the world. According to HBO, another spin-off series is in development tentatively called 9 VoyagesThis article is about the famous nine journeys of the Sea Snake away from Westeros. Toussaint might have more work ahead of himself than any of his castmates, if this is true.

Matt Smith plays Prince Daemon Targaryen

Matt Smith will play the rogueish Prince Daemon Targaryen — another figure described from birth to death in Martin’s book, but who is middle-aged at the time of this story. Daemon is ambitious, arrogant and bloodthirsty and rides the dragon Caraxes. He even declared his self at one point, just before the dance of dragons. “king”A small chain of islands off the coast Westeros.

This story may bring back memories of Jaime Lannister from the original series. Although he is undoubtedly a murderer/warmonger, he appears to be seeking a little redemption. Fans will hopefully like the ending he gets better than Jaime’s.

Rhys Ifans is Ser Otto Hightower

Rhys Ifans will play Ser Otto Hightower — Lady Alicent’s father and a shrewd player of the “game of thrones.”Otto was the Hand of King to Viserys’ predecessor King Jaehaerys and then to Viserys. Otto then tied himself even more to the throne by convincing the aging king that he marry his own daughter, in the hope of having more children to preserve the line of succession. These political games will continue throughout Otto’s life. House of the Dragon.
